Company: Seattle7Writers

Project: Website Redesign & Printed Collateral

Goal: To design the Seattle7Writers official website, and produce supporting printed collateral to help increase event awareness and generate publicity.

Outcome: In addition to meeting all of the original specifications, I developed the Seattle7Writers website and templates using WordPress, so that it could be easily updated without requiring specialty knowledge of HTML, PHP, or CSS. The supporting printed collateral reinforced the Seattle7Writers branding. The printed pieces also played a major role in publicizing and ensuring outstanding event attendance.

Description: My work with the Seattle7Writers included all manner of printed and web-based materials. I designed their marketing outreach, posters, bookmarks, event programs, and mailing pieces. Over the years I have also designed event logos and custom graphics.

One of my first projects for the S7W was to redesign their website. After several meetings and extensive UI/UX mockups, a theme and general layout were decided upon. The redesign was a substantial overhaul, and the final product required considerable custom design work. I created interactive buttons, animations, and header images from scratch. I was quite pleased to incorporate my not-so-secret love of texture in the visual identity, and the mahogany wood background was evocative of the many local bookstores where the Seattle7Writers events were hosted.
